A beautiful combination of original photography, melted beeswax, and pigments becomes a handcrafted, luminous, almost 3-dimensional piece that captures the sense of peace and the simple pleasure we get from the ocean and the world around us.
Each piece is one-of-a-kind beginning with my original photograph.
Pieces are created on cradled wood panels, signed and dated on the back, and framed in wood float frame.
sizes 8x8 to 12x16 are 7/8" deep, sizes 16x16 and larger are 1 1/2" deep.
Encaustic art is extremely archival, however care should be taken with your fine art purchase.
Normal household conditions will have no adverse effect on the piece, but avoid hanging a painting in an area that gets direct sun exposure take care to avoid freezing temperatures.
The encaustic medium (beeswax and damar resin) tends to “bloom” or become cloudy over time. Occasionally, you may gently buff the piece with a soft cloth or paper towel to remove the haziness and bring out the luminosity of the wax, or you may enjoy the subtle changes of the work as the wax hardens and cures for up to 3 years.
